1. How do interpersonal and employability skills effect your everyday life and your future?

Interpersonal and employability skills effect your everyday life because they are a measure of how easy it is to get along with your peers and the rest of the people you work with on a daily basis. This will help in determining how successful you are in your career.


2. What is graphic design and why is it important to communicate visually?


Graphic design is the creation of artwork using a digital medium, or software for a purpose other than itself. It is important to communicate visually because that a large majority of daily life is in the things that we see, and to be able to utilize that in order further oneself


3. Why is it important to identify safety issues and to safely operate equipment utilized in the classroom?


It is important to identify safety issues in order to secure the safety of yourself and others during work. By safely operating the equipment, you are preventing possible pain and injury should anything go wrong


4. What are the elements of design and how are they incorporated into a design?


Elements of design include line, color, value, shape, form, texture, and space. These are incorporated into a design in how it looks, such as the thickness of lines and its color


5. What is a vector-based design and how is it created?


Vector-based design is an entirely geometrical type of design made entirely of lines, instead of pixels as in a program such as Adobe Photoshop. The primary program that we use to make vector based designs is Adobe Illustrator


6. How is color used effectively in graphic design?

Color is used in graphic design in order to create more aesthetically pleasing pieces of artwork, using contrasting colors to better accent certain parts of the design or similar colors to cause portions to better blend together.


7. What is a raster-based image and how is it created?

A raster based image is an image that is created using a two-dimensional layout of pixels, in comparison to lines found in vector-based design. Raster based design is created by converting an image file in a computer program such as Adobe Photoshop.



8. How does the manipulation of size and resolution effect digital images?

Increasing the size and resolution of a digital image makes the image sharper or more blurry, becoming more defined when shrunk in size or raised in resolution, and more obscure when expanded in size or lowered in resolution.



9.What is the function of the type within a design?


The type within a design's main function is to convey a concise message in an effective and quick way. Another function of text in a design is to form the design in itself through its own visual attractiveness and theme.












10.How do designers use a page layout program?

A page layout program such as Adobe InDesign is used by designers in order to organize and format text and graphics on a document in order to meet a required end. For example, a yearbook group may use such a program to organize spreads containing photos, texts and background graphics



11.  What steps does a designer take to design a page layout from concept to final product?

A designer first creates the concept based on the use of the particular page layout, then submits it to a set of peers of which may return various changes that can be made. This, along with personal ideas of the designer are added, removed and in other ways modified until the final product is created, much like a sculpture from a block of marble.



12. What are the key developments in the history of visual communication?  How did these developments shape our industry?

Visual communication has existed since the dawn of mankind and has since become a pivotal part of society, working alongside commerce and science as a way to convey information that the person creating the work of art wanted to share. Key developments may include the use of computers over hand-drawing




13. What careers are available within the field of graphic designer? What profession are associated with the industry?
Careers within the field of a graphic designer include work in advertising as well as among design firms that create graphics such as logos, posters and other pieces of art for companies. The primary profession associated with the industry is a graphic designer whose job is above.





14. Would I want to become an Illustrator or Graphic Designer? Explain.

The career of an illustrator or graphic designer is slightly attractive to me however there are many other things that attract me towards other professions.
